Q: How do I know when my Slate floors are ready for and cleaning?
You will know it's time to have your Slate tiles professionally cleaned once your Slate floors start looking dull and matte, even after you have given them an efficient domestic clean. If you notice that your Slate tiles are staining easily, this is a good indication that your previous sealer is wearing off and your Slate floors will need to be resealed immediately to prevent detrimental staining.
Q: What different types of Slate tiles do Tile Cleaners® clean?
Indoor and outdoor areas, Polished Slate, Honed Slate, Matt Finish Slate, Porous Slate, pre-sealed Slate, wherever you have Slate tiles we have the answer. External tiles, natural stone pavers and tiles pavers, bathroom Slate tiles on floors and walls. We cater for each and every different type of tiles you might have.

Your Slate tiles will be brought back to their best possible condition, with our high pressure cleaning and the use of our best cleaning products and expertise.
Q: Is it safe to get my Slate tiles cleaned?
Yes, our tile cleaning services are safe! Tile Cleaners® generally use only the highest quality water based products alongside our state of the art cleaning machinery to provide the best cleaning solution without compromising your slate tiles. Stone tiles are porous and require more attention than man made tiles, which is why its extremely important to use the correct products and equipment necessary to bring your slate tiles back to their best possible condition. Tile Cleaners® prides itself on specifically catering for each tile variety.
Q: Are your cleaning products toxic?
Here at Tile Cleaners ® we understand the importance of your family's safety. This is why Tile Cleaners ® only use non-toxic finishing agents as we not only want to protect your Slate tiles, but your families' health too. Materials and agents that can be of health hazard are not in our product portfolio and have never been.
Q: How often should I seal my slate floors?
It depends on the type of sealer used and the amount of foot traffic the slate tiles are being exposed to. Australia's Deepshield® range of deep impregnating water based sealer's, offer long term benefits with Deepshield Gold® lasting up to 15 years. Topical sealer's have a life expectancy of around 3 years. If you have a high amount of foot traffic or perhaps severe weather conditions(for outdoor tiles), you may experience a shorter lifetime. Sealing your slate tiles can also depend on the tiles condition. Once they start showing patchy areas and are staining easily then you should have them resealed. Give us a call and we can assist you with all your enquiries.
Q: What happens if I do not seal my slate floors?
Slate floors can damage easily, any oily or harsh spills can damage the slate tiles and penetrate the pores leaving a permanent stain, unreachable by domestic cleaning methods. We strongly recommend sealing you slate tiles to keep their natural look and feel, to protect them against permanent staining and to prevent any future accidental damage. They will look their very best for longer and will be easier and more convenient to maintain.
Q: When is the best time to seal my slate floors and how do I know that mine need sealing now?
The best time to have your slate tiles sealed is immediately after installation to prevent any accidental staining or damage. You will know that your slate tiles need sealing once you start noticing patchy sealed areas of the floor and/or your slate tiles are staining easier.
Q: What can I do to keep my slate tiles looking new?
To keep your Slate tiles and grout looking new, Tile Cleaners ® recommend cleaning each week with a damp microfibre cloth and a mild detergent to remove any dirt or grime from the tiled surface. Any strong detergents (any strong acid or alkali) may affect the sealer, mild detergents and pH neutral substances are strongly recommended. Our best advice to protect your Slate tiles is to seal them with one of our highest quality sealers. This is the best protection you Slate tiles can have against staining.
Q: There is a stain on my Slate floor. Can you remove it?
If the stain is new and has not set in well, we will probably be able to remove it. However, we cannot guarantee that we will remove it completely; we can only guarantee cleaning it back to its best possible condition. This also depends on wether the Slate tiles have been sealed previously or not. Some stains might penetrate the natural stone and settle in below the surface and can be hard to clean out. It is important to have us strip, clean and seal your Slate floor so in the future nothing will be able to stain your Slate floors.
Q: How will you charge me for cleaning my Slate tiles?
Tile Cleaners® charge per square meter for each separate room. There is a price list on the Tile Cleaners® website for you to review. Before we begin our work we will measure each room individually, confirm the work to be carried out as well as confirm all costs with you.
Q: How do I measure the size of the slate area?
We recommend that you measure each slate area separately. The simplest way to measure is by multiplying the width by the length. For example a room that is 3 meters long and 2 meters wide is 3 X 2 = 6m2 in total.
Q: Will you help me move my furniture?
Tile Cleaners® technicians can help to move items that one person could be expected to move such as furniture with wheels, light furniture, tables and chairs, however as Tile Cleaners® insurance covers our restoration services, we will not be held liable for any damage caused to furniture or property you request our technicians to move.
Q: What should I do to prepare for the slate cleaning?
Move all furniture and items off the floor so it is ready for when we arrive.
